The center bore of the wheel is the circular hole in the middle of the wheel. It functions as a place for the wheels to sit perfectly onto the car’s axle and minimize vibration when being driven. Then how can you use these aftermarket wheels if the center bore is bigger than your old wheels? You use center rings to match the center bore of your aftermarket wheels and your car, so that it will sit properly on your car’s axles. Center rings look like a ring that sits between the rims and center bore. This will get rid of the gap and make the wheels more stable, and eliminate vibration.

However, if your car’s center bore is bigger than the wheel’s center bore that you’re going to install. One of the ways to get around this problem is by lathing the rim’s center bore to be bigger or to fit the preferred size. Once the wheel’s center bore is enlarged to fit a bigger center bore, you can’t revert it back to standard. Thus, it is very important to check your wheel’s center bore first before installing it on your car.
